Every July 4th, I like to watch 'Jaws' and make some sort of themed meal. I'm a big film buff and I love 'Jaws'. Do I watch the others? No. Just the first one. It takes place over July 4th weekend. I know, sharks and July 4th is NOT goth. I just wanted to share this thing that I do.
Food Themes
The food themes are: New England cuisine, NE beach/harbor, shark themes, and July 4th. Below are some photos of food examples so you can have a better idea.
2024 Meal Plan
My plan for this year, since I'm going to do this when transitioning to a carnivore diet, is to have a Philly cheesesteak bake (no bread), crab quesadilla on the side, red-white-blue trifle, and a shark attack drink. I could just do a standard surf n' turf sort of thing, but I wanted something separate from what I can do on carnivore.
Keto Philly Cheesesteak Bake - I'll do this in a ramekin for 1 serving
For the shark attack drink, I'll probably use a blue-colored MIO with crushed iced and water, add a splash of grenadine for that shark bite look. Maybe float a shark gummy. This way I can have a non-alcoholic beverage. I do have some shark gummies just for July 4th. Maybe I'll do something else that's a bit more 'shark'.
July 4th is on a Thursday, so I still have chest and cardio that day and cardio the next day. I stopped drinking a few years ago like a fuddy-duddy. I may have a glass of wine at Halloween or Christmas, but that's about it AND it's a big maybe.
Anyway, I'm posting this on July 1st just in case someone is interested in doing this themselves - they have a little time to grab some things. It would be fun to spend the day fishing or clamming with friends, then get things cooked up and chill somewhere near the ocean. I'm not lucky enough to do that. I'm rather landlocked in Fairbanks.
Readers - Do you have some sort of unique tradition like this that you do each year? Let me know.
