Some people love going out for an early morning or evening run or bike ride or walk. If you enjoy doing this and deal with a dimmed light or nighttime scenario, this is meant for you. I know we all love wearing black, but black at night can lead to accidents. We might enjoy visiting a cemetery, but we don’t want to be stuck there.
Ways to Mitigate Black Clothing at Night
Reflective Patches - Reflective patches are available (mostly) online. Inner Decay and The Cheap Place both offer a variety of cool patches, as seen in the photos. These can be added to the back of a jacket or hoodie. Decorative and functional. Most of the reflective patches that you’ll find are on motorcycle gear sites. I'm sure you could find some interesting things on Etsy as well.
Reflective Clothing - You can buy or make gear that has reflective piping, screenprinting, or is made with reflective material. This isn't difficult to find. If you are looking for fabric, Mood Fabric offers a variety of colors and fabric types, trims, metallics, zippers, etc. I'm actually surprised that no one has really jumped on the idea of making some goth running gear out of this stuff. If you're looking for clothing, just search for "reflective activewear" and you will find stuff.
Colored Goth Gym Apparel - If you want to opt for some non-black goth gym apparel, you can look at Unwonted Apparel, Veynd, and Adidas. You'll find some prints, but mostly solid color options like dark red, maroon, purple, various grey tones, and whatever other color you find attractive. You could even venture to standard sports attire shops like Under Armour for basics.
Special Running Gear - You could always look into special running gear for nighttime or low-light running. In the gallery above, we have: ROW 1 - Hi-Vis running vest, a wearable strobelight, clip-on cap light, a belt light; ROW 2 - Hi-Vis windbreaker, reflective hat, reflective hat, men's reflective running shirt; ROW 3 - Reflective beanie, reflective phone pouch, reflective dog vest. When searching for these things, look for running gear that is either hi-vis, reflective, or for night running.
